A 15-year-old has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred the night of July 31 at approximately 6:30 p.m. in Parkland.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD), Auburn police officers arrested the teen who has now been booked for murder in the first degree.

As PCSD was responding to the shooting, a deputy’s dash cameras captured the 15-year-old and a woman in a red Tahoe allegedly leaving the area, helping law enforcement track him down, stated the department.

The 15-year-old is accused of killing a 19-year-old.

“Deputies arrived on scene and found one male deceased with a firearm, live ammunition and multiple shell casings in the roadway,” Sergeant Darren Moss Jr. said on July 31. “Deputies were advised the suspects left in a vehicle north on Pacific Avenue.”

Witnesses told 911 dispatchers they heard multiple gunshots that evening along Pacific Avenue in Parkland. When deputies arrived at the scene of the crime, they found the 19-year-old man from Spanaway fatally shot.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, the 19-year-old’s girlfriend was with him at the time of the incident and was a possible witness in the case.

“Detectives and forensic investigators arrived on scene to collect evidence and interview witnesses,” Pierce County Sheriff’s Office wrote.

During the investigation, a crowd of people, made up of mostly the 19-year-old’s family members, began to show up at the shooting crime scene, according to the sheriff’s office.
