Shots were fired in the North end of the city of Tacoma after officers attempted to take a domestic violence suspect into custody.

The incident started with a domestic disturbance call on North 33rd Street at around 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Tacoma Police spokesperson Shelbie Boyd told KIRO 7.

Around 3:15 a.m., police chased the suspect through North Tacoma after they allegedly refused to pull over and exchanged gunfire with the pursuing officer. The chase ended at the intersection of 32nd Street and Stevens Street, and no injuries were reported.

“What I would say is if anybody wakes up in the morning and they have video surveillance, or any type of evidence, to please contact us,” Boyd said.

The suspect, a man in his 40s, is now in custody and may be charged with burglary, assault and felony harassment.
