Two days after the Arlington School District’s (ASD) classes were back in session, a Marysville man allegedly drove onto an elementary school campus and pulled out a knife Thursday, the Arlington Police Department (APD) confirmed.

In response to the disturbance, ASD is reviewing its safety protocols within the first week of the school year to heighten protection of its campuses.

Arlington School District campus to boost safety after knife threat

The 31-year-old man interrupted an event outside of Eagle Creek Elementary by recklessly driving onto the grass outside the school and wielding a knife.

Arlington police officers claimed the suspect began arguing with bystanders and eventually pulled out a knife.

The man was arrested by law enforcement and is now facing multiple charges, including DUI, reckless endangerment, and brandishing a knife.

The suspect was later booked into the Snohomish County Jail.

An Arlington Police school resource officer is currently working with ASD to address and enhance safety measures around the school to prevent future occurrences.

“The Arlington Police Department is committed to maintaining safety within our community and will continue to work diligently to address any threats to public safety,” APD stated.
