Kitsap deputies detect ‘strong odor of alcohol’ on teen driver after Bremerton crash

A 19-year-old was arrested on suspicion of DUI after a two-car collision in unincorporated Bremerton on Wednesday.
At approximately 7:30 p.m., Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) deputies responded to the 1290 block of N.E. McWilliams Road, KCSO announced.
A woman told deputies that she was pulling out of an apartment complex’s parking lot when she was hit by another car.
The suspect vehicle was a white BMW that appeared to have “come out of nowhere,” the woman said.

Deputies spoke with the BMW driver as he was being treated by medical personnel. A strong odor of alcohol was detected on the BMW driver.
The 19-year-old voluntarily submitted to a field sobriety test, which he then failed. KCSO noted his blood alcohol content (BAC) was measured at .09.
It is illegal for anyone under the age of 21 to drive with a BAC of 0.02% or higher.
The suspect was ultimately arrested on suspicion of DUI.
