A 22-year-old convicted felon was arrested in Capitol Hill for a dispute over a bicycle that led to a shooting on Sunday morning.

At approximately 1:45 p.m., Seattle Police Department (SPD) officers responded to a shooting in the 800 block of E. Thomas Street, SPD announced.

Arrest team locates armed suspect hiding near Capitol Hill shooting scene

Officers were given information that a suspect was running down an alleyway while armed with a gun. SPD formed an arrest team and located the suspect nearby, hiding between vehicles.

The suspect was arrested without incident, and a gun and ammunition were recovered. The victim was also found unharmed.

Officers determined that both men got into an argument over a suspected stolen bicycle. During the altercation, the suspect shot his gun into the air before each party fled the area.

SPD noted the suspect is a convicted felon for acts involving a deadly weapon. He is also on active Department of Corrections supervision and is prohibited from having guns.

Officers found two warrants for his arrest for obstruction and escape. The suspect was booked into the King County Jail for firearm offenses.

Gun Violence Reduction Unit detectives have been assigned to the case.
