An armed 31-year-old convicted felon and his accomplice were arrested on Thursday after selling drugs to several people in a Stay Out of Drug Area (SODA) Zone in Capitol Hill.

SODA zones prevent people from re-entering parts of a designated area within Seattle if they’ve been tied to drug crimes.

At approximately 3:15 p.m., Seattle Police Department (SPD) officers witnessed a suspect selling drugs near Broadway E. and E. Olive Way, SPD confirmed. The accomplice, a 20-year-old woman, was seen accepting cash in exchange for the drugs the man sold.

SPD was able to arrest both suspects without incident.

Officers seized 10.3 grams of fentanyl, $455 cash, a handgun, a scale, and plastic baggies.

The suspect also had a $10,000 felony narcotics warrant for a drive-by shooting and assault, which prohibits the man from possessing firearms.

SPD booked the suspect into the King County Jail for sale and delivery of synthetic narcotics and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Officers investigated and released the woman.

Narcotics Unit detectives have been assigned to the case.
