The Edmonds Police Department (EPD) is warning of a criminal group after an elderly woman was robbed Friday.
The woman was forcibly robbed of her jewelry in a WinCo parking lot, EPD reported via a Facebook post.
Police said the woman is OK but was knocked to the ground.
EPD posted a picture of the suspects’ car.
Authorities warn of criminal group after Edmonds robbery
Law enforcement around the region is investigating an organized crew of men and women who have been using a method of distraction and deception to rob people.
“Evidence suggests the suspects surveil the victims before they are approached and then offer electronics or other jewelry to distract and confuse the victims,” EPD stated.
According to police, suspects are often described as having dark skin or being of Romani or Middle Eastern descent.
EPD urged people to call 911 if they see anything suspicious and to educate family members to be aware of their surroundings. The department also said people should call 911 if they or a family member has been a victim of that type of robbery.
