Hazen High School entered into a temporary school lockout Tuesday after receiving a report of possible gunfire nearby, the Renton Police Department (RPD) confirmed.

Officers were called to Hoquiam Avenue after a 911 caller reported that people inside two vehicles allegedly exchanged gunfire. Other witnesses reported sounds of cars racing and a possible backfire. Due to these reports, the campus went into lockdown as a precaution.

The vehicles in question left the scene before officers could arrive.

After an investigation into the area, Renton Police officers did not find any victims or damage connected to the report.
