A Kenmore Police Department (KPD) officer was slashed in the arm by a suspect threatening employees and officers with a knife outside of a Shoreline grocery store on Friday morning.
KPD responded to assist the Shoreline Police Department with threats involving a weapon at the store on Ballinger Way, KPD announced.
The suspect was allegedly threatening to kill employees and officers at the store. KPD noted the department has an extensive history with the suspect dating back to early 2026, and that the suspect had previously made threats toward officers.
Suspect accused of repeatedly trying to stab Kenmore officer
The suspect fled the scene on foot when officers arrived Friday. When officers located the suspect and took him into custody, the suspect brandished a knife and repeatedly attempted to stab one of the Kenmore officers.
The suspect slashed the officer in the arm with the knife before he was arrested.
KPD confirmed the officer was “okay” and was transported to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries.
The suspect was booked into the King County Jail for felony harassment due to his threats to kill a store employee and responding officers, as well as the felony assault on the KPD officer.
After roughly 24 hours in jail, the suspect was released on a $25,000 bond set by a judge.
KPD noted that the suspect’s current whereabouts are unknown, though he is expected to appear in a future court hearing.
