A Lynnwood High School student was arrested and taken into custody Wednesday morning shortly after allegedly pulling out a gun while driving to school.

Deputies were called to the area at approximately 7:30 a.m. due to a reported road rage incident involving a firearm on North Road. The victim reported seeing a 16-year-old girl pull into the Lynnwood High School parking lot. Deputies responded and detained her.

“The reporting party stated a female suspect pulled a firearm while driving on North Road and the victim reported seeing the suspect pull into the Lynnwood High School parking lot,” SCSO spokesperson Renee Cooper told KIRO Newsradio.

The campus was placed into a “modified” lockdown as the incident was being investigated.

While deputies were searching the high school student’s car, officers found what appeared to be parts of an assault rifle on the floorboard. The girl was arrested and taken to the Denney Juvenile Justice Center.

“At this time, the suspect’s vehicle and backpack have been impounded as evidence and will be searched pending the approval of a search warrant,” Courtney O’Keefe, director of communications with SCSO, said. “The student is currently in custody and there is no remaining danger to students and staff.”
