Man shot and killed in Fairwood area near Renton, suspect at large

Detectives with the King County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit are investigating a fatal shooting that happened late Monday night in the Fairwood area near Renton.
Just before 11 p.m., 911 dispatchers received several calls reporting gunfire near S.E. Petrovitsky Road and S.E. 171st Way. Deputies arrived to find a man who appeared to have been shot.
“This has become a Major Crimes investigation, and they were out there all night and several hours into the morning,” King County Sheriff’s spokesperson Brandyn Hull said.
Hull says there were reports that the driver of a vehicle was shot and then crashed into a tree. The suspect had already left the scene by the time deputies got there.
So far, authorities have not released details about the victim’s identity, a suspect description, or what may have led up to the shooting.
