A man is in custody after he barricaded himself in the MultiCare Bonney Lake emergency department Friday morning.
He was taken into custody after being wounded from self-inflicted injuries, the Bonney Lake Police Department stated in a news release.
The man reportedly walked into the emergency department with a handgun, law enforcement confirmed around 10 a.m.
The hospital was placed on lockdown. Patients were evacuated, and a SWAT team responded to the facility.
Police worked on site with a negotiator, according to a news release from MultiCare. The emergency department was closed and was not accepting patients due to the incident.
All staff and patients are safe. There have been no reported injuries.
“The safety and well-being of our patients, staff, and community remain our highest priorities,” MultiCare stated.
Police said there is no threat to the community.
