‘Not normal’: Renton police investigating after man found dead in apartment

Police in Renton are trying to determine what happened to a 23-year-old man who was found dead in his apartment on Wednesday.
Officers were called to the apartment in the 1100 block of Edmonds Avenue Northeast around 2:40 p.m.
There were no signs of forced entry and no obvious signs of trauma to the body. Officers said they are investigating the death as a likely homicide.
“It’s a 23-year-old male who was found deceased in his apartment,” Meeghan Black with the Renton Police Department said. “It’s not normal for a 23-year-old to just die like that. But until we get the definitive answer from the medical examiner as to the cause of death, we just don’t know what we have.”

A concerned family member called 911 Wednesday requesting a welfare check. Police entered the home, discovered the body, then retreated until a search warrant could be obtained.
Investigators have recovered fingerprints, but so far, they have few leads.
Anyone who heard or saw anything in or around the 1100 block of Edmonds Avenue Northeast from Monday morning through Wednesday afternoon is asked to call the Renton Police Department.
