Officer-involved shooting takes place in Tukwila after suspect flees in stolen vehicle

An officer-involved shooting broke out in Tukwila early Friday morning after a suspect fled in a stolen car.
Officers with the Tukwila Police Department (TPD) initially approached a man in an unlicensed vehicle in the 4200 block of S. 146th Street at 3:20 a.m. Friday, but the suspect sped off after ignoring their commands.
The suspect’s car was later determined to be stolen.
“During the pursuit, an officer utilized a PIT maneuver to ultimately stop the fleeing suspect vehicle in the 14200 blk Tukwila International Blvd,” the Tukwila Police Department stated.
Toward the end of the pursuit, an officer discharged their firearm. No injuries were reported in the PIT maneuver or shooting.
The suspect was booked into jail on charges of eluding, possession of a stolen vehicle, first-degree driving while license suspended, and DUI.
“Tukwila International Blvd is temporarily closed in the 14200 block for the incident investigation,” the Tukwila Police Department said. “A Washington State Patrol (WSP) evidence team is responding to location to process the scene.”
The officer who fired their weapon has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure for any officer who discharged their gun.
