Police detain 3 after man shot near Renton bus stop

Three people were detained after a man was shot in Renton around 3:15 p.m. Friday, Renton Police Department (RPD) Public Information Officer Sandra Havlik confirmed to KIRO Newsradio.
The man had several gunshot wounds to his chest and leg and was taken to a nearby hospital.
The shooting happened near a bus stop by the 200 block of Burnett Avenue South. Witnesses informed police that the three people allegedly hopped on a bus after the shooting,
“Our officers follow the bus, stop the bus, and detain the three individuals,” Havlik said.
Renton police investigating what led up to shooting
Police said there was a dispute before the shooting and are working to figure out what it was about.
“We’re working on identifying actual suspects, but they did get firearms on these subjects as well,” Havlik explained.
Renton Transit Center temporarily closed
RPD stated via X that the investigation is ongoing and that residents can expect a heavy police presence in the area.
The Renton Transit Center is temporarily closed, and Metro buses are being rerouted while police investigate, King County Public Information Officer Jeff Switzer confirmed to KIRO Newsradio.
