The Seattle Police Department (SPD) is investigating an early-morning shooting in Pioneer Square that sent one man to the hospital and left nearby businesses and vehicles damaged by gunfire.

According to SPD Sergeant Patrick Michaud, officers began receiving 911 calls around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, reporting shots fired near 1st Avenue S. and King Street, an area lined with bars and nightclubs.

Michaud said a disturbance outside local clubs escalated into an exchange of gunfire.

When officers arrived, they found shell casings and evidence of a shootout, but no suspects or victims at the scene. Investigators later determined that multiple businesses and several vehicles had been struck by bullets.

“Multiple people had been involved in a shootout. More than 30 rounds were fired from multiple guns,” Michaud said. “We did end up finding a gun in the area from someone who dropped it or ran off.”

A short time later, a man walked into Harborview Medical Center with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the back. Officers from the East Precinct responded to the hospital and learned the victim had been in the area of the shooting, but he declined to provide many details about what happened.

Call for additional victims or witnesses

Seattle Police said the case remains under active investigation and have limited suspect information at this point.

“It does remain under investigation, and if you were a potential victim of this and you haven’t spoken with officers yet, just give us a call,” Michaud said.
