21-year-old security guard seriously injured in Pioneer Square shooting

A late-night shooting in Pioneer Square left a 21-year-old security guard seriously injured on Wednesday.
At 10:56 p.m., Seattle Police Department (SPD) dispatchers received reports of a shooting in the 800 block of Western Avenue, SPD announced.
As officers arrived, they located a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the groin area.

Officers provided medical aid until Seattle Fire Department (SFD) medics arrived. SFD transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center in serious but stable condition.
Witnesses reported that there was an altercation shortly before the shooting, and two to three suspects fled the scene on foot.
There are currently no suspects in custody.
Detectives with the SPD Gun Violence Reduction Unit are investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
