25-year-old woman arrested for suspected DUI after crashing into tree near Port Orchard school zone

A 25-year-old woman, suspected of DUI, was arrested Tuesday after driving through an active Port Orchard school zone and crashing into a tree.
Another alert motorist reported the driver to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), noting she was “swerving erratically” on S.E. Phillips Road, KCSO reported.

The woman reportedly stopped at a school crosswalk, but then remained stationary for several minutes after traffic had cleared. The woman then veered off the road into a tree minutes later.
KCSO deputies found several alcoholic beverage containers inside the vehicle. The woman refused field sobriety and breathalyzer tests.
Deputies then obtained a search warrant for a blood draw at St. Michael Medical Center. After medical clearance, the suspect was booked into the Kitsap County Jail.
The woman faces multiple charges, including DUI and driving without a required ignition interlock device.
