A prisoner who escaped custody from the Department of Corrections (DOC) while inside the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac) was caught by law enforcement Wednesday.

The prisoner, John Nino, 20, was taken into custody in Tacoma shortly after 4 p.m., according to DOC.

A car he was riding in was spotted in King County. Authorities followed the car to Tacoma and arrested Nino without incident.

Prisoner escapes custody at Sea-Tac Airport

Nino was on the fourth floor of Sea-Tac Airport, with two DOC officers, when he escaped. According to Port of Seattle officials, he ran to the light rail, then across the pedestrian bridge on the east side of the station, down toward International Boulevard.

Nino was in DOC custody for failing to report to his community corrections officer after he was issued community supervision for charges related to second-degree burglary.

He was arrested in New Mexico and was in the process of being returned to DOC custody in Washington when he escaped.
