Newly released footage shows how a police drone helped officers track and arrest a shoplifting suspect last month.

On March 13, Redmond police responded to a report of a shoplifting incident at a store in the 17700 block of Northeast 76th Street. Officers were informed the suspect had a criminal history that included armed robbery.

“A Drone as a First Responder (DFR) pilot deployed a drone, quickly located the suspect, and saw him enter the passenger side of a vehicle in the parking lot,” Redmond police said in a post on X. “With the help of the DFR, patrol officers followed the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on the Highway 520 entrance ramp.”

The footage, released by Redmond PD, shows the pursuit that led officers to stop the car and arrest the suspect.

No injuries were reported.
