Man accused of killing woman, stabbing Renton officer in face pleads not guilty

The man accused of killing a woman and stabbing a Renton officer in the face pleaded not guilty Tuesday, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Christopher Mott was charged Thursday with murder in the first degree with a deadly weapon enhancement, burglary in the first degree with a deadly weapon enhancement, and assault in the first degree with a deadly weapon enhancement.
Mott’s bail was set at $5 million.
Renton officer stabbed in face
The stabbing occurred late at night on August 3. Multiple 911 calls reported hearing breaking glass and suspicious noises on Burnett Avenue S. just before 12 a.m. August 4.
When police arrived, a man ran away and stabbed an officer in the face with a knife.
“The officer was transported to a hospital with serious injuries,” the Renton Police Department stated.
Woman found fatally stabbed
The suspect was arrested shortly after the attack. After he was taken into custody, officers returned to the original scene to continue their investigation, following a trail of blood that led to an adult woman who had been fatally stabbed.
“Detectives are continuing to investigate and are working to determine the suspect’s relationship to the victim,” Renton police added.
