‘I’m going to kill her’: Man arrested 2 minutes after firing gun at couple in Seattle park

A 41-year-old man was arrested within two minutes after a shooting was reported in the Chinatown-International District (CID)on Sunday morning.
At approximately 1:40 a.m., Seattle Police Department (SPD) officers responded to reports of a man pointing a gun at people in Hing Hay Park, SPD announced.
Responding officers were notified that the suspect shot a gun while the 911 phone operator spoke to the victim.

Real Time Crime Center analysts reviewed community camera footage. The shooting was not pictured on video, although multiple people scattering from the park could be seen.
The suspect was displayed on video surveillance fleeing from the shooting toward 6th Avenue S.
Within two minutes of the initial 911 call, SPD found the suspect in the 600 block of S. Jackson Street, arresting him without incident.
A gun was recovered from the suspect’s pocket. Police later determined the suspect approached the victim and engaged in a verbal argument with her and her boyfriend.
During the altercation, the suspect shot his gun at the suspects. The two victims did not sustain any injuries from the gunfire.
The suspect told the two victims, “he was going to kill her,” according to the SPD police report.
Officers booked the man into King County Jail for assault and unlawful possession of a firearm. As a convicted felon, the suspect was prohibited from possessing firearms.
