17-year-old shot multiple times in Seattle, then arrested for outstanding warrant

A 17-year-old boy was shot in the back multiple times in South Seattle and then arrested at Harborview Medical Center.
The Seattle Police Department (SPD) got a call for a man down with gunshot wounds just after 7 p.m. on Tuesday, SPD announced.
The teen was found on the street near 30th Avenue S. and S. Adams Street in South Seattle’s Rainier Vista neighborhood.

First responders rushed the teen to Harborview in serious condition, then learned there was a warrant for his arrest.
“Our robbery unit detectives learned that the teenage boy was wanted in connection with unrelated robbery charges, and he was placed under arrest at the hospital,” said Seattle Police Detective Brian Pritchard.
Detective Pritchard said he was involved in a carjacking last month.
So far, there is no suspect and no motive for the shooting. Police said this type of turnaround happens more than one might think.
“A lot of times they are connected to crimes, especially when it involves a violent crime like this,” Detective Pritchard said.
SPD’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit continues to investigate the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
