An early Tuesday morning shooting that left a 17-year-old boy injured near Atlantic City Boat Ramp is currently under investigation.

At 3:30 a.m., Seattle Police Department (SPD) officers were dispatched to reports of shots fired in the 9000 block of Seward Park Avenue S., SPD announced.

Officers arrived and located evidence of a shooting in the street in front of the Atlantic City Boat Ramp.

Sheriff’s deputies locate gunshot victim miles from shooting scene

As officers were on scene, dispatch advised that King County Sheriff’s Office deputies were with a 17-year-old male in the 8500 block of 117th Street in the Skyway neighborhood, who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the back.

The teen told deputies he was shot near Seward Park in Seattle. SPD officers responded to Skyway and confirmed King County medics were transporting the teen to Harborview Medical Center.

The investigation revealed the victim was in a car with two other boys, ages 13 and 17, along with an unidentified driver. SPD noted the victim was shot while inside the vehicle.

“They were driving on Seward Park Avenue S. when the gunshots were heard, and the victim was shot inside the vehicle,” SPD Detective Brian Pritchard said

The driver then drove the teens to Skyway, dropped them off, and left the area.

Gun Violence Reduction Unit detectives are leading the investigation and will work to determine the events leading up to the shooting.

Anyone with information is urged to call the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000.
