A man is facing charges after Pierce County deputies said he tried to sell a stolen excavator on Facebook Marketplace.
Investigators said the machine was stolen from a Spanaway construction site, then listed for $24,000.
The owner recognized the location in the listing and alerted deputies.
“It was just not very smart on the suspects’ part,” Pierce County Sheriff’s public information officer Carly Cappetto said.
The suspect was arrested and released on $10,000 bail.
“The 23-year-old male was booked into the Pierce County Jail,” the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office stated. “It was later learned that this wasn’t the suspect’s first rodeo for selling stolen property and heavy equipment, and he is being investigated in other cases as well.”
Authorities noted the stolen excavator was returned to the owner.
