Wanted suspect rams police blockade, fires at deputies, then vanishes into Midland neighborhood

A wanted suspect who was involved in a shooting with Pierce County deputies early Sunday morning is currently on the loose, and the sheriff’s office just released a photo of him.
The suspect is a white male seen in the photo above. He is 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs approximately 225 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a dark sweatshirt.

Around 2 a.m. May 3, a deputy located a male slumped over in a vehicle at 72nd Street E and 9th Avenue Court E. in Midland. Deputies determined the man had multiple felony warrants out for his arrest, including second-degree assault, eluding, and escape from community custody.
After officers positioned their vehicles to surround the suspect and block his escape, he awoke and used his car to ram through the blockade.
“The suspect vehicle was able to ram an escape route with his vehicle, with deflated tires, and drove at a deputy,” the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office wrote.
According to the department, shots were then fired by the suspect. No deputies were injured in the shooting.
Deputies soon found the vehicle near a resident’s home at the 900 block of 85th Street E. The car was involved in an accident, and was left running when they found it. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls from neighbors reporting that a male had shown up on their property, asking for help. In the neighbors’ statements, the man appeared to have blood on him.
“Multiple calls came in from nearby residences stating a man had showed up on their properties, asking for help, and appeared to have blood on him,” Pierce County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Carly Cappetto told KIRO Newsradio. “We’ve had multiple residents report a male with blood, matching a description of our suspect, who had broken into their homes and left after being confronted.”
The Pierce County Force Investigation Team has taken over the investigation.
“We do not have a suspect in custody,” Cappetto said. “This is a very active scene and we are encouraging everyone to lock their homes and their vehicles, since there is evidence that shows the suspect is attempting to get into people’s homes and vehicles.”
