Woman allegedly burning Social Security cards tased, arrested for DUI after pursuit in Thurston County

A woman allegedly burning Social Security cards and other identity documents was tased and arrested early Saturday morning near the Nisqually Handicap Fishing area.

At approximately 1 a.m., a Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) deputy was conducting a proactive area check in the area, which notably has a long history of criminal activity beyond park hours, TCSO announced.

The deputy made contact with the woman and attempted to identify the individual, but she provided a fake name.

Suspect raised a stick at deputy, fled when a second deputy arrived

The woman refused commands to put down a stick that was in her hand, and at one point raised it over her head at the deputy. Her actions prompted the deputy to deploy a taser, which was ineffective.

A second deputy arrived at the scene and parked in front of the suspect, who drove around, eluding pursuing deputies. The woman passed through a stop sign while driving on the wrong side of the road.

TCSO deputies initiated a PIT maneuver, which brought the fleeing suspect driver to a halt in a ditch.

The suspect was ultimately taken into custody, and deputies noticed a strong odor of alcohol.

TCSO processed the suspect and booked her for DUI, first-degree criminal impersonation, attempting to elude, and obstructing.
