Bomb squad responds to suspicious device outside Tumwater home, identified as a prop

A suspicious device, believed to be an active bomb, was found on the hood of a car in a Tumwater neighborhood Monday.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) responded to a report of a suspicious device and evacuated the area out of caution before TCSO assessed the scene.

The Washington State Patrol Bomb Squad was called to remove the suspicious device, and the TCSO said that the device was a prop, which they disposed of.

There has been no comment on why the prop bomb was placed on the car in Tumwater; additionally, it is unclear who created the device.
