Puppy found zip-tied in dumpster has found her furever family, suspect in custody

A 2-year-old pit bull that was found zip-tied and abandoned earlier this month has found her furever home.
Binny was renamed Maisey and is settling into her new family, according to a Facebook post by the Everett Animal Shelter Tuesday. The shelter received an update from her new family.
“She is doing really well here, we are adjusting to each other and settling in,” Maisey’s family told the shelter. “We took her to the vet and learned that she is around 2 years old, and boy does she act like a puppy. She has a very sweet, curious spirit, like everything is new to her. She is playful and spunky in the best way.”
Officers find dog zip-tied, abandoned in dumpster
Maisey was recovering at the shelter after Everett officers discovered her zip-tied and abandoned in a dumpster.
Officers were called to a building on Evergreen Way after reports of an abandoned animal. When officers searched the area, they found Maisey tied up and completely sealed inside a suitcase that had been thrown in the trash, EPD announced.
“Officers responded to the area and found a dog tied up and zipped into a suitcase and dumped into a dumpster,” Everett Police Officer C.J. Hawley told KIRO Newsradio. “The dog was still alive but obviously in bad shape.”

An officer then brought Maisey to the Everett Animal Shelter, where she was “getting all the love, care, and treats that she deserves.”
Everett Animal Shelter workers said Maisey quickly warmed up to everyone and is showing signs of healing.
In a previous social media post, the Everett Animal Shelter expressed gratitude for the police response and the community support that ensures animals like Maisey receive a safe, happy life.
Police were investigating the animal abuse from Maisey’s former caretaker and were asking anyone with information to contact the Everett Police Department’s non-emergency line at (425) 407-3999.
“Unfortunately, people, when they feel overwhelmed with taking care of a pet, they don’t always make the proper decisions,” Hawley said.
On December 14, a suspect was taken into custody regarding Maisey’s case, according to KIRO 7. The person was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on animal cruelty charges.
