More than 100 rounds were fired in a shooting in West Seattle Sunday at approximately 9 p.m., spanning several blocks.

Detectives with the Seattle Police Department (SPD) are launching an investigation into the shooting.

“On March 30, patrol officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired and property damage near 26th Avenue Southwest and Southwest Brandon Street,” SPD stated in its crime blotter report. “When police arrived, all involved parties left the area. They did not locate any victims with injuries, no suspects, or cooperative witnesses.”

According to the SPD, a large crowd of people was attending a vigil when the shooting occurred. Although unconfirmed, SPD detectives believe the gathering was for one of the recent South Seattle homicide victims. Responding officers recovered more than 100 fired rounds around the vigil.

“There was bullet damage to a nearby RV trailer. There was bullet damage to a house, and there was an abandoned vehicle that was also damaged,” SPD Detective Eric Munoz told KIRO Newsradio.

SPD believes glock switches might have been used.

“These glock switches, they’re basically capable of turning a pistol into an automatic machine gun type of a weapon,” Munoz said.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation. Detectives with the Gun Violence Reduction Unit are currently processing the scene.
