Gee interviews Amanda Knox on new podcast

On episode two of “Leaving a Legacy,” Gee Scott interviews Amanda Knox, an author, activist, and journalist who was wrongly convicted in the murder of her roommate and imprisoned in Italy.

Knox jumps right in and explains to Gee why she decided to tell her journey of infertility and having a miscarriage on her own podcast, “Labyrinths.” She and her husband, Christopher Robinson, welcomed their daughter, Eureka Muse, to the world in October 2021. Part of her reason for sharing this is her challenge to control the story of her life, after so many years of being at the mercy of paparazzi and media coverage.

She promises the one post of her new daughter on Instagram will be the last.

“I am very, very loathe to expose my future children to that kind of treatment,” Knox said. “I think a lot of us take for granted that social media is just like a family photo album that we just conveniently share with everyone that we love and care about. But we’re not actually thinking about how much we are sharing it with more than just the people that love us.”

Knox was wrongfully convicted, and later exonerated, for the 2007 murder of her housemate, Meredith Kercher. She spent four years in an Italian prison.

“Rudy Guede is the one that did it,” Gee said. “With that being said, I thought you were guilty. I 100% thought you were guilty. It was the first time that I met you that something didn’t add up.”

“It’s not your fault that you had that false impression of me,” Knox sympathized. “Everything that was out there in the world — first impressions really matter. If the first time you ever hear about it, it’s ‘murder girl’ that’s going to leave an impression in your mind.”
