Gee Scott learns from the King: Josiah Johnson

Josiah Johnson played basketball at UCLA, is the son of former NBA basketball player Marques Johnson, and he’s the executive producer and host of “Outta Pocket” on Wave TV.

But Johnson might be best known for his social media presence, something he said he crafted while producing “Legends of Chamberlin Heights.”

“A lot of people don’t realize — they see it when you get to the top — don’t realize the journey, don’t realize the climb,” Johnson told Gee Scott, in episode four of “Leaving a Legacy.”

As for the day-to-day on social media, Johnson said he wakes up to see what’s going on in the world and if he has any good commentary or takes on it.

“I try to be as quick on the draw as possible, and also try to be as consistent as possible in terms of the level of content I put out. People joke about leaving stuff in the draft — there’s a lot I’ll leave in the draft,” he said. “And Gee, you know, there’s a lot of haters on social. There’s a lot of people who want to see me fall or a lot of people who are rooting against me, so I try to make them as miserable as possible every single day.”

He says those haters keep him on his toes.

Johnson said he doesn’t expect he’ll be live tweeting into his 80s, so in the interim, he’d love to be able to be a resource and share the practical knowledge he’s picked up over the years.

“When people talk about me, I want them to know that he went out of his way all the time to help people,” Johnson said of his legacy.
