Gov. Jay Inslee’s 2024 re-election campaign has raised more than $600,000, adding weight to the theory that the governor will actually run for an “unprecedented” fourth term, according to a recently published report by the Seattle Times.

Inslee’s potential candidacy raises a number of questions, chief among them, will the Republican Party have a strong candidate to take down the 3-term governor?

“I think part of that depends on how Republicans are going to perform in this current election,” Michael Medved, the New York Times best-selling author and syndicated host of The Michael Medved Show, said with an eye towards Tiffany Smiley’s closer-than-expected race with five-term, ranking Democratic U.S. Senator Patty Murray.

“In the most recent polling from Trafalgar Group, Murray has a below 50% [approval rating], which for a senator, who’s been there for five terms and is running for a sixth term, is a very weak showing,” Medved added on KIRO Newsradio’s Gee and Ursula Show.

“The entire universe changes in the state of Washington if a moderate Republican … wins. This is a tremendous shot in the arm to the entire Republican Party in the state of Washington.”

Regardless of the GOP’s future candidates, Governor Inslee’s fundraising still raises the question: Should he even consider another run for office?

“There’s no one in full-throated support of Inslee running for a fourth term,” Producer Andrew “Chef” Lanier said.

“We would be talking about Inslee, basically, being in office for the life of a child growing into adolescence and adulthood over 16 years. That is crazy if that happens. We have to have term limits in Washington state. That’s way too long. Let’s move on.”
