‘There’s still good people out there’: Mariners fan who caught Cal’s ball reunites with kid he gave it to

Oct 1, 2025, 6:09 PM | Updated: 6:12 pm

Seattle Mariners fan Glenn Mutti-Driscoll caught All-Star catcher Cal Raleigh’s 60th home run ball, but instead of keeping it for himself, he selflessly handed it to a 12-year-old next to him.

That lucky 12-year-old was Marcus Ruelos, who continued the generosity by giving the ball back to Cal.

“I wanted to do that because he hit the ball, his 60th home run, his family was there, and his special ball, he’ll keep it, and it’s just like a memory for him, a big memory,” Marcus said.

The act was touching for fan Glenn, who was happy to see his kindness reciprocated.

“It’s great,” he said. “I mean, couldn’t really script this any better. There’s still good people out there, I guess, just having faith in everyone else, or the person next to you, that they’re a good person, extend kindness to them. They’ll pay it back too.”

Glenn, Marcus, and Marcus’ dad were able to reunite on “The Gee and Ursula Show” on KIRO Newsradio to share their experiences of that special night.

“A cool, full circle moment for what had happened that night,” Galan Ruelos, Marcus’ dad, said.
