‘It will make the fans feel better’: Luke Willson reflects on Seahawks’ Super Bowl mindset

Seattle Seahawks fans are buzzing ahead of Super Bowl LX, and with KIRO Newsradio’s Gee Scott reporting from Radio Row in Santa Clara, he took time on the “Gee and Ursula Show” to reflect on a recent conversation with former Seahawks tight end Luke Willson ahead of Sunday’s game

Willson was on the Seahawks roster in 2014 when the team narrowly lost Super Bowl XLIX to the Patriots. Gee said Willson reflected on the team’s mindset and the importance of playing for the fans, not just the players.

“When I asked him if it would make him feel better if the Seahawks beat the Patriots, the same team that beat him in the playoffs, he said, ‘No, but it will make the fans feel better,'” Willson said.

A Seahawks team built grit, unity

Willson also highlighted the selflessness that defines the team. He emphasized that focus, humility, and teamwork are as important as talent, especially on football’s biggest stage.

“You have guys as talented as he is, playing the game for others,” Gee said, quoting Willson. “That kind of commitment is what makes this Seahawks team special.”

The Seahawks punched a Super Bowl ticket with a dramatic 31‑27 win over the Los Angeles Rams, thrilling fans and cementing the narrative of a team built on grit, unity, and memorable moments. Analysts and fans alike are now turning their attention to how Seattle will approach the Patriots, behind new head coach Mike Macdonald.
