Ursula believes ‘major miracle’ needed for Harrell as Wilson takes mayoral lead

In the latest ballot drop for the Seattle mayoral race on Tuesday, challenger Katie Wilson has taken a more than 1,300-vote lead over incumbent candidate Bruce Harrell.
Gee shared his thoughts on Wilson’s late lead and what the appeal may be for many Seattle voters who are simply seeking a change on “The Gee and Ursula Show” on KIRO Newsradio.
“I don’t think [Wilson] is qualified to be the mayor. What matters is this: there are a lot of people who are working hard, can’t afford things, and that’s what they’re listening to right now. They have felt unheard for so long,” Gee said. “In this case, there are a lot of people in Seattle thinking they’re just going to do something different, because the things that have been going on before wouldn’t work.”
As 5,819 ballots were counted Tuesday afternoon, approximately 600 ballots are left to be counted as Wilson holds a slim .49% lead over Harrell.
“[Wilson’s] supporters obviously feel like she is more in tune with the reality that so many face,” Ursula said. “It looks like she is going to be the one who ends up at City Hall, unless there is some major miracle for Bruce Harrell.”
