Mysterious headstone found near Bonney Lake finally reunited with family
Jun 27, 2021, 8:32 AM
At a ceremony in Buckley on Saturday, the recently discovered 1886 headstone of seven-year-old Daisey Kirtley was reunited with her family.
In the unusually stifling mid-morning heat, a few dozen people gathered to dedicate the newly installed headstone, which was found near Bonney Lake last year. Daisey Kirtley’s ornate marker now stands near the grave of her mother, her father, and two of her brothers, who were buried in Buckley Cemetery in the early decades of the 20th century.
Two of Daisey’s great-grandnieces – Raynne Cech and Robyn Woolery Salo – attended the ceremony. They were tracked down and invited by Shane Riley, one of many history sleuths who worked to partially solve the mystery of Daisey’s headstone, and who shared his photos of the ceremony with MyNorthwest.
