‘This is truly a great city’: Visiting photographer gushes over capturing Seattle for the world to see

Chuck Fazio and Caitlin Rice, two out-of-state photojournalists, were hired by Visit Seattle to document well-known and intricate details Seattle has to offer during the FIFA World Cup.

Joining “The Jake and Spike Show” on KIRO Newsradio, the pair shared their favorite aspects of the city, what it means to them to have the honor of capturing photos for the rest of the world to see, and how welcoming the city’s people have been during their brief stay.

“I’ll be completely honest, I told our friends at Visit Seattle that I would do this for nothing,” Fazio said. “Our primary goal was to come and meet people, which is what we did. This has been, for us, 10 remarkable days, as somebody who does what I do, to be able to be called upon by the people that market the destination to capture it for them, and they’re going to use our art to show the world who they are, there is no greater mission, calling, or goal for a photographer than that.”

Despite traveling the world, Fazio says Seattle tops his list of destination cities

Fazio continued to gush over what he had seen in Seattle, noting that despite traveling all over the world, Seattle reigns supreme on his list of destination cities.

“Our primary mission has been to photograph our international visitors to show them, not people who are already here,” Fazio said. “I’ve got to tell you, as an American, I’m pretty proud that the city these folks are seeing is Seattle. I travel all over the country, literally all over the world, and I mean this with all the sincerity I could muster, I don’t think there is a better city in America than this one.

“[Seattle] has everything. Granted, I’ve been here for 10 days,” Fazio continued. “I understand completely that I’ve been here during the best weather, I get all that, I’m not dumb. I can interpolate, I get all that stuff, but this is a great city. This is truly a great city. We met some great people. The people here, I can’t generalize, but I can only tell you that the people we have seen and touched and interacted with, it’s a vibe here in Seattle.”

All of the photos Chuck and Caitlin took during their stay in Seattle are available here.
