Don’t fall for fake ‘fake news’ narrative attacking Trump

It’s an interesting narrative: “Fake news” helped give President-elect Donald Trump the edge in the election. Only, the truth is, fake news is what’s actually trying to delegitimize his presidency, and he hasn’t even taken office yet.

While Progressives scream about fake news, they’re spreading it with the purpose of damaging Trump. It’s not fake news coming from mainstream media outlets, but from blogs that are created expressly to go viral. (For the purpose of simplifying: I use “fake news” to mean a story angle that’s created based on specious evidence for the purpose of pushing the author’s narrative.)

Take for example the recent headline “Dismayed Trump Voters Tweet About What Losing ACA Means To Them,” by Rosie Stone of GOPocalypse. It’s tailored made for people who already hate Trump to post this on their Facebook walls and Twitter pages to spread this ludicrous story line that Trump is so unpopular, even his supporters have abandoned him.

Both a superficial and a deeper look at this story provides you with the exact same conclusion: this is a stupid article and completely unfounded.

Stone’s premise is that Trump supporters are abandoning him because of his effort to repeal Obamacare. She writes:

It isn’t just liberal Democrats who have benefited from “Obamacare.” Republicans need affordable health care, too! And they aren’t celebrating the fact that Donald Trump promised them on the campaign trail to keep many of the popular provisions in the “new” healthcare plan, only to have Republicans do the opposite.

First of all, it defies credulity that Trump supporters would be angry with his plans to repeal Obamacare, since it was one of his central talking points during the campaign. But let’s look at her claims.

The evidence? Tweets from “Trump voters”. Here’s one she includes in her story:

Note that tweet was sent on Jan 10, 2017. Funny thing. A cursory view of her twitter account suggests she is/was a Hillary Clinton supporter. On October 9, 2016, she tweeted:

Oh and then there’s this one from May 30, 2016:

@realDonaldTrump Too bad Crocked Hilary is going to kick your ass! Hand over your tax returns. Your liabiilites exceed your income. Ouch!!

Perhaps she changed her mind at the last minute and went with Trump? Maybe. But here are some tweets from the days before the election:

It took me minutes to find these tweets. And this isn’t the only example of shoddy, self-serving fake news from GOPocalypse. Some of Stone’s other tweet examples come from SPAM Twitter feeds, and some don’t exist anymore (likely deleted because the accounts are fake). One Twitter user quoted even updated his bio to say “My tweet was taken out of context and is now being used by liberals to attack Trump and I’m being target by Liberal attackers.”

Stone is not the only one spreading fake news, as it appears she inspired USUncut, a purveyor of nonsense. And in their fake news story, Pacific Northwest-based blogger Tom Cahill quotes nearly the same people.

It’s funny, in a way. I think Trump will be a disaster of a president; one capable of bringing down his own presidency. Yet, he’s being made a victim by these dopes.

Many Progressive activists have done their level best to pretend “fake news” helped elect Donald Trump, but, the truth is that very thing is what is trying to take down his presidency.
