Washington Republican will let a campaign donor Taser him

Most politicians have catered lunches or dinners to raise money for campaigns. The ones who get really out there might set up a dunk tank. But Republican State Representative Dave Hayes will let someone use a Taser him.

On May 24, campaign donors get “an opportunity to watch Rep. Dave Hayes get tased” and one donor may be given the opportunity to actually do the tasering. Hayes represents Washington’s 10th District. According to the NW News Network, a campaign email invitation includes the fine print: “A lucky private contributor at this event will be given the opportunity to pull the trigger and Taser me!”

I’m not entirely sure there is a great demand to Taser a state representative — though perhaps, upon closer examination of his voting record, you’ll find a reason to. Yet I’m totally willing to use a Taser on him for something even better than a $20 campaign donation — as a rule, I don’t contribute to campaigns — tens of thousands of listeners hearing his message on my show.

Last night on my show I offered an interview with Rep. Hayes to talk about his campaign and if he’ll let me use a Taser on him for the show. I’ve never used a Taser before but I’m sure Rep. Hayes will trust me to do it safely. All he needs to do is sign a waiver of liability, and we’ll host him in our MyNorthwest.com Amphitheater out back, we’ll Facebook Live stream it, and then have him on the show to chat.
