Guns don’t kill people, fatty foods do

If the Seattle City Council is willing to tax gun purchases, shouldn’t it also tax fatty foods?

A tremendous amount of people die from strokes and heart disease every year, so why not tax hamburgers, KIRO Radio’s John Curley asked.

People going to the hospital for heart attacks are costing taxpayers huge amounts of money, Curley said.

So why is it that a Seattle City Council member wants to tax each firearm and bullet sold in Seattle? The people legally buying guns from stores are causing less harm than people not taking care of themselves, Curley pointed out.

Why punish someone just trying to protect themselves and their families?

“The scenario is: They’re going to screw the law-abiding citizen who goes into the store to buy a gun,” Curley added. Most criminals don’t purchase their guns from stores.

“What you’re ultimately doing is, if you’re a gun store owner, you can kiss sales goodbye,” he said.

People looking to purchase a gun could just go outside city limits and buy a gun, which is what Sergey Solyanik, owner of Precise Shooter, is afraid of.
