Listener letter | Use air strikes if civilians are at risk

Some have questioned the ethics of the decision to use a bomb-carrying robot and C4 plastic explosives to take out the gunman who killed five police officers in Dallas.

The Associated Press reports that the strategy opens a new chapter in the escalating use of remote and semi-autonomous devices to fight crime and protect lives.

There’s one listener of KIRO Radio’s Tom and Curley Show who more than agrees with the tactic.

When someone is indiscriminately shooting people and poses an ongoing danger to police and civilians, as far as I am concerned they can use air strikes so long as innocent people are not harmed. Take whatever steps you think necessary. We do not owe any consideration for the shooter. We simply need to end the problem as soon and safely as possible.
