Gee: Wait, what?! Drew Lock gets a chance to rewrite his story

Drew Lock...

Wait, what?! Drew Lock will start at quarterback for the Seahawks on Sunday in Arizona with Sam Darnold out.

And I’m excited to watch this, not just because of football, but because of what this opportunity represents. Maybe you reading this can feel this.

Drew Lock has been in this league long enough that people already have an opinion about him. They remember Denver, they remember the interceptions, and they remember the times it didn’t work.

Here’s the problem with that. Those are old stories.

One of the most unfair things about life is that people will judge the person you are TODAY by something that happened to you YESTERDAY. They’ll remember when you failed. They’ll remember when you weren’t ready. They’ll remember the version of you that struggled, and then act like that’s the only version of you that gets to exist.

Here’s what I love about Drew Lock starting Sunday: He gets the pen back. He gets to write another chapter.

Drew is just like us. His opportunity is here, and now he gets to show the world what’s up. We all know that your past can explain you, but it doesn’t define you.

So here’s the takeaway. People might still be talking about your Chapter 3. That’s cool, but you’re the one holding the pen for Chapter 4.

Sunday in Arizona, my man Drew Lock gets to write, and we 12s can’t wait to see what he puts on that page.
