‘He needs to get out of politics’: Gee and Ursula unconvinced by Elon Musk’s new political party

Jul 7, 2025, 2:00 PM | Updated: 4:03 pm

After President Donald Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” passed, Elon Musk announced he intends to carry out his threat of launching a new political party, The Associated Press reported Monday. Elon Musk’s political party is called the “America Party,” which Musk stated on X was formed to restore Americans’ freedom.

Gee and Ursula doubt Elon Musk’s political party

However, KIRO hosts Gee Scott and Ursula Reutin don’t think Elon Musk’s political party will hold any weight.

“Elon Musk, right now, is like one of those tech bros,” Gee said on “The Gee and Ursula Show.” “You got a lot of money, but you ain’t got no more juice.”

He added that President Donald Trump was Musk’s “juice.”

“Donald Trump is the reason why you had people saying, ‘Yeah, I’m going to get rid of my pickup, and I’m going to get me an EV,'” Gee added.

Musk became motivated to develop the “America Party” as Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” passed through Congress, now signed into law last week after it passed in both the House and the Senate.

“When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy,” Musk wrote Saturday on X, the social media company he owns. “Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”

Musk indicated he’d use the party, and his political action committee, America PAC, to get involved in the 2026 midterm elections. Little is known about the party’s goals beyond its primary focus on reducing the national debt and limiting federal spending.

Musk, the wealthiest man in the world, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, spent at least $250 million supporting Trump in the 2024 election.

Ursula said that while Musk “needs to get out of politics,” he is still a very smart individual.

“I don’t like the guy, but he is brilliant, and he has created a lot of things, whether it’s the space program, EV, all of that,” Ursula said. “He needs to back out and focus on what he’s really good at and where he can make huge strides.”

When Trump was asked about the new political party spearheaded by Musk, he called Musk’s proposition “ridiculous,” going on to tout the “tremendous success with the Republican Party.”

Gee called Trump a gangster, referring to the way he builds his fan base.

“Donald Trump walks the land, and he’s got the juice, whether you like him or not — people don’t even care about his policies — they just care about the way that he makes them feel,” Gee said.

So when it comes to Musk creating his own party, both Gee and Ursula agreed it wouldn’t amount to much.
