‘This championship felt different than the first one’: Gee shares what it was like at the Seahawks’ historic win

As the Seattle Seahawks reclaimed the Lombardi Trophy, KIRO host Gee Scott was in the midst of the action.
He felt that this championship was different than the win in 2013.
“Here’s why this championship felt different than the first one, that they won in 2013, because as you get older, you understand that moments like those don’t happen too often,” he said on “The Gee and Ursula Show” on KIRO Newsradio. “And so yesterday, when the clock struck zero and the confetti poured, and the players rushed out onto the field, and the fans started hugging each other, I knew then, and I looked at that moment, and I’m like, ‘Nah, I’m savoring this. I’m enjoying all this.’ Because potentially, it can maybe not happen again.”
Gee added that fans were crying and hugging each other because they knew they were witnessing history.
“I think it was fans my age and older, because they understand, ‘Yo, this is a real blessing and moment, right here.’ So it was beautiful,” he said.
Seahawks fans outnumber Patriots fans
As for the crowd, Gee said the 12s far outnumbered the Patriots fans.
“When it was time to scream, when the defense was out in the field, I had Patriots fans sitting next to me saying, ‘Wow, it must get loud in your stadium.’ So the reason why you keep hearing the Seahawks talk about the 12 and the fans — look, I’m not saying you don’t have fan bases that don’t care. I’m not going to sit here and say the Seahawks fans are the only fan base that cares. I’m saying that when the Seahawks fans care, they care a little harder than most,” Gee added.
“The same people who call Seahawks fans fair-weather fans — to which I’ll say fair, because if you don’t win, Seahawks fans are like, ‘Yo, I got stuff to do. I can go hiking. I can go camping.’ We’re in Seattle, there are all kinds of things to do — but if you win, nobody’s gonna love you harder than we do,” he continued.
