Former Director of Communications for the Seattle Police Department, Jamie Tompkins, is now asking the city of Seattle for $3 million in exchange for emotional and professional damages caused by rumors that she was involved in a sexual relationship with former Seattle Police Chief Adrian Diaz.

“There is a lot of allegations being shared on both sides,” Jake Skorheim, co-host of “The Jake and Spike Show” on KIRO Newsradio, said Tuesday. “Who do we believe? What’s happening? I think this is just going to come down to the city writing a check.”

In her demand letter, Tompkins claims that employees at the Seattle Police Department started the rumor that she was involved with Diaz after she agreed to work with him and leave her job as a news anchor at FOX 13. However, Diaz previously came out as gay.

One investigation, handed over to a third-party investigator, alleged Diaz had a romantic relationship with Tompkins. However, Diaz and Tompkins denied the allegations.

“I understand why she’s going after the city,” Jake said. “I mean, like her name was kind of dragged through the mud, yeah. So I imagine she’ll get paid.”
