A video of Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson dancing alongside Seattle rapper Y2K is making the rounds on social media.

The clip, posted on Instagram by DubSea, shows Wilson bobbing and swaying next to the rapper during what appears to be a local event. Co-hosts Jake Skorheim and Spike O’Neill of “The Jake and Spike Show” on KIRO Newsradio couldn’t resist weighing in.

“It’s literally something that nobody has ever asked to see, but she’s dancing on a video,” Jake said.

Mayor Katie Wilson’s dancing is ‘off-putting,’ Spike says

Spike said the dancing itself was hard to watch.

“The physicality alone is off-putting, to be kindest,” he said.

Spike also noted that while Wilson is simply dancing in the clip, the rapper’s other content raised eyebrows and wouldn’t be appropriate to show on air.

“You can draw a lot of inference from who you spend your time with and who you’re seen with,” Spike said.

‘If the goal is to repel everyone’: Jake questions decision to make video

Jake said that despite the video being funny, the real problem is the disconnect between a sitting mayor and the kind of moment the video creates. He questioned whoever on Wilson’s staff thought the appearance was a good idea.

“I have no idea who this guy is and his rapping or hip-hopping or whatever you want to say it is,” Jake said. “But the awkwardness of Katie Wilson standing next to this guy trying to dance is palpable.

“Whoever in her office shoved her into this video and said, ‘You know what you should do, Katie Wilson? Why don’t you bust a move, and let’s film it. Boy, isn’t everybody going to love it,'” he continued. “If the goal is to repel everyone, then I would say she’s doing a fairly good job.”

Spike delivered the final blow.

“If you’re going for the uncoordinated vote, you nailed it,” Spike said.

The video comes at a politically fraught time for Wilson, who is already facing a recall effort and continued criticism over public safety concerns.
