Mariners fans fed up with megaphone preachers outside T-Mobile Park

Sep 20, 2025, 5:00 AM

Seattle city leaders are considering new legislation to limit amplified sound outside T-Mobile Park, following ongoing complaints from fans and the Seattle Mariners about street preachers using megaphones at disruptive volumes.

During “The Gee and Ursula Show” on KIRO Newsradio, co-host Gee Scott spoke about his personal experience attending the games and how irritating the preachers can be.

“The only person I want standing there is the statue of Ken Griffey Jr., that’s it,” Gee Scott said. “I don’t want any loud talk. I just want to go to the game. And I especially don’t want to be going to the game with all that noise.”

For Mariners fans, it’s become a regular part of the game-day experience: Approaching the stadium and being hit with loud religious sermons broadcast through powerful megaphones. According to a report from FOX 13, one preacher’s megaphone recently reached over 120 decibels — comparable to the volume of a rock concert and more than double Seattle’s legal noise limit of 60 decibels for commercial areas.
