The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that states can now block Planned Parenthood from receiving Medicaid money, The Associated Press (AP) reported. Health services such as contraception and cancer screening could be affected.

“Heart breaks on that one,” KIRO host Gee Scott responded to the news.

U.S. Senator Patty Murray said the decision will put at least 200 clinics at risk of closing. The 6-3 ruling comes as a larger push by Republicans to defund Planned Parenthood, AP noted. Gee mentioned the potential impact of withdrawing financial support from the organization.

“Humanity, with a bird’s eye view, if you look on top of the Earth, they don’t break it down into how you feel, what culture you’re from, what is your skin color—listen, none of that matters. You start talking about cancer screenings, and you start talking about real impacts this would have on people who are struggling financially and need places like Planned Parenthood,” he said on “The Gee and Ursula Show.”

Ursula: Planned Parenthood provides more than abortions

KIRO host Ursula Reutin pointed out that Planned Parenthood provides more services than abortion.

“I understand that if you are strictly pro-life, against abortion, that you think of this as a big victory, but you’ve got to remember that that is not all that Planned Parenthood does,” she said.

Concerning women’s rights, Ursula believes the country is regressing.

“Roe v. Wade was overturned, and now, when you keep talking about the Supreme Court rulings, I’m not surprised anymore, because of the makeup of the Supreme Court. You knew that this was gonna gonna happen. It has a conservative majority, and it was voted on,” Ursula said.

She added that “elections have consequences.”
