‘It tracks’: Gee and Ursula not surprised by Seattle’s #1 frugal ranking

Dec 9, 2025, 6:09 PM

A survey recently found that 83% of Americans consider themselves frugal, and Seattle was ranked No. 1 as the most frugal city in the country.

In light of the news, co-hosts of “The Gee and Ursula Show,” Gee Scott and Ursula Reutin, broke down why Seattle leads the nation in frugality and questioned if a frugal partner in a relationship could be beneficial.

“Seattle scored 98.6 out of 100. It’s not because we’ve stopped going to Starbucks,” Ursula said. “We’re actually seeing a lot more people cook at home. I’m not part of the study, just want to make that clear.”

The study revealed that in Seattle, more than 80% of people cook their meals at home, which is the highest in the country. Ursula asked Gee if those numbers seemed to be accurate to him.

“It tracks, absolutely,” Gee responded. “As a matter of fact, a successful relationship has one frugal person in it. There’s no way, let’s be real. If you have two people in a relationship, and neither of them is frugal, that’s a crash and burn. By the way, 80% of relationships end because of financial reasons.”

“In some areas, I am frugal because I’m all about the promo codes, and I do not buy anything that is not on sale,” Ursula said. “There are some areas where I could be a bit more frugal. I eat out way too much.”
